GEM Companies - Denver, CO is seeking a Database Administrator (SQL) Level 3 to join our team. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Summary:

The Senior Database Administrator (SQL) provides guidance to ensure all team requirements are successful and workload is efficiently balanced.

They are responsible for providing technical support for the day-to-day SQL Server activities of the organization to include providing technical support for chartered Projects. They are expected to work on complex assignments and perform a wide range of SQL Server database administration activities with little to no direct supervision. The Senior SQL Server Database Administrator must be a self-starter and be able to work under aggressive deadlines.

The candidate possesses familiarity with varied concepts, standard best business practices, and procedures. The ideal candidate can plan and execute tasks based on experience, judgment and independent research.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Senior Database Administrator working with team members to ensure all requirements are delivered in an efficient, highly productive manner
  • Provide technical support for the day-to-day SQL Server activities of the organization
  • Provide technical Support for chartered Projects, e.g. Security Remediation, Disaster Recovery
  • Coordinate changes to SQL Server and SQL Server Service Packs and cumulative updates
  • Implement database changes to improve performance and security
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard databases
  • Measure database performance and troubleshoot complex database issues
  • Configure and monitor interfaces with other systems
  • Configure and maintain system databases, user databases and server instances
  • Configure and maintain schema, tables, views, functions, triggers and indexes
  • Configure and manage system and database user IDs and group permissions
  • Configure and manage database backups and recoveries
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot bi-directional database replication
  • Efficient at T-SQL and Batch scripting
  • Review procedures in database management system manuals for making changes to database
  • Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years of experience in SQL Server Administration experience
  • Experience installing, configuring, securing, and optimizing SQL Server Databases
  • Experience with High Availability and Data Replication technologies as related to SQL Servers
  • Experience writing and debugging scripts in PowerShell
  • Ability to work on individual tasks, as well as team-oriented tasks
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities
  • Ability to work under a cross-matrix management structure
  • Ability to work on individual tasks, as well as team-oriented tasks
  • Required to be on-call and respond in a timely manner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Spotlight or some other type of SQL monitoring
  • Familiar with SQL database clustering in Windows environment
  • Windows Server 2008/2012 Administration
  • ITIL Certification

Education/Certification Requirement:

A 4-year degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline with 5-7 or more year's related professional experience. (Education can be substituted for 8 years of experience)

Security Clearance Requirement:

Minimum Active DoD Secret and DHS suitability

Working Hours:

M-F, 7am-5pm and on-call support
