This position acts under the guidance of the Lead Application Developer and conducts research in design, develops, tests, debugs, generates internal and external documentation, implements, and maintains web and mobile applications. This position works independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications

* Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.

* Three or more years of experience developing, managing and updating a high-volume website.

* Operational knowledge of one or more commercial Content Management Systems.

* Proficient in hand-coding HTML 5, JavaScript, C#, or PHP.

* Demonstrated experience with 508/ADA requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

* Advanced degree (Bachelor or Master) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related degree from an accredited institution.

* Five or more years of experience developing, managing, and updating a high-volume website.

* Demonstrated knowledge of Advantys WorkflowGen, or comparable electronic form and workflow system.

* Demonstrated experience with IIS, Apache, or other Web Server.

* Demonstrated knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).

* Demonstrated knowledge of Versioning, Documentation, and Software Developing Tools.

* Demonstrated knowledge of Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture.

* Demonstrated knowledge of Web Development frameworks (i.e. Bootstrap) and proficient with Responsive Web Design.

* Demonstrated knowledge of Ajax technologies, languages, libraries, and frameworks (i.e. CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, ASP.NET AJAX, etc.)

* Experience with Web Services (SOAP, REST XML) and API development and utilization.

* ITIL certification.

* Other IT Certifications: Microsoft, Apple, CompTIA, etc.

* Program and project management experience.

* Server networking experience (DHCP, DNS, etc.)

* Experience in Higher Education IT environment.

Required Skills

Essential Functions

The Application Developer is responsible for the following:


* Responsible for full life cycle of web and mobile application development projects.

* Coordinates with Lead Application developer requirements (to include reasonable privacy, security, and accessibility concerns); recommends expectations and feature priorities; determines design methodologies, tool sets, programming languages, software products, documentation formats, and design; implement and maintain databases; and designs and conducts tests.

* Provides recommendations to Lead Application Developer.

* Troubleshoots, repairs, updates, and tests legacy code.

* Reviews, assigns, and closes ITSS requests.

* Clearly and punctually documents requirements, processes, and technical specifications.

* Optimizes the college's site ranking on search engines.

Systems, Team, and Customer Support

* Works collaboratively with internal, external, and end customers to ensure a consistent user experience that meets marketing and industry standards.

* Serves as level II support and resolves, and close regularly and in a timely manner ITSS requests.

* Builds, updates, and troubleshoots both test and productions servers to host web and mobile applications.

* Monitors system performance.

* Coordinates and communicates with vendor's technical support staff.

* Provides feedback to Lead Application Developer about systems performance and recommendations.


* Keeps current on new software technologies and issues through professional development opportunities, industry literature, and news channels.

Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Chief Technology Officer

* Provides exceptional service to internal customers, external customers, and end users.

* Reviews regularly ITSS Request System and timely update and close ITSS requests.

* Maintains a positive, healthy and safe work environment.

* Ability to write user documentation and knowledge base articles.

* Ability to test applications from an end-user perspective.

* Ability to work with a high degree of independence and accountability, and as a member of a cohesive team.
