Medical Technologist PRN

The Medical Technologist performs all routine andspecialized laboratory procedures, maintains quality control programs andassists the section supervisor as scheduled. This employee helps inventory supplies to maintain adequate stocklevels. In each section of thelaboratory, the medical technologist operates and maintains precision and delicate equipment. The Medical Technologist must be able todemonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate tothe age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge ofthe principles of growth and development over the life span and possess theability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret theappropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relativeto his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as describedin the unit's / area's / department's policies and procedures.

Education and Training: Certification as MT(ASCP) or a baccalaureate degree in appropriate laboratory science and/or certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a specialist in the area of laboratory specialty.

Affiliations: Membership in American Society of Clinical Pathology is desired.
