About the Position:

This is a TERM position and may be extended up to a maximum of six years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, you must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.

* Upload biometric files and images for manual submission and manually transfer biometric files, biometric images, and response files from one domain to another.

* Answer user questions concerning biometrics, transactions, family-of-systems and other user inquiries, working closely with the System Administrators in the monitoring of system health and the operational status of the biometrics repository(s).

* Identify and correct files that error in the repository(s). Categorize all watch desk submissions and follow industry-leading processes and established work flows for problem resolution.

* Oversee the utilization of government provided automated tools to capture trends, trouble call resolution status and track metrics to operate and maintain the system and generate standard report and ad hoc reports for customers or for submissions.

* Provide weekly and monthly reports that identify and tracks trouble calls; use existing automated help desk tools and assess new automated tools that can provide improvements to both users and the DoD authoritative biometric repository(s) operations.

Occasional travel - Travel for business approximately 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience providing support in biometric collection operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
