Title: OB Tech
Location: UC Medical Center
Hours: part time, 24 hours a week
Primary Purpose: At the delegation of the registered nurse, assists the nurse in the provision of basic patient care. Demonstrates working knowledge of reasons for test, procedures, treatments and potential signs and symptoms of complications.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education: High school graduate or GED required; C.N.A. required; successful passage of 80 hours of State Tested Nurse Aide Training; 40 hours of Acute Medical-Surgical Training, Specialty Training and Hospital Specific Training; successful passage of TABE test (competent in math - 7th grade proficiency and vocabulary - 9th grade proficiency); or a student from an NLN accredited RN program having successfully completed on Medical-Surgical rotation or another acute rotation. Medical Assistant, LPN, or operation room training or previous operating room experience preferred. A nursing student who has successfully completed on medical-surgical rotation or another acute care experience.
License and Certifications: BLS certification within 60 days of hire.

Ability to manage a rapidly changing and varied work environment related to change in patient needs. Satisfactory completion of hospital-provided training and unit orientation. Demonstrated ability to follow written or verbal instruction effectively. Demonstrated math and deductive reasoning skills. Demonstrated ability to lift and/or assist patients of various weights.
