State Government Relations Initiatives Manager

This position is responsible for enhancing and growing the State Government Relations team's public policy initiatives and engagement programs. Key activities will include developing and implementing programs to inform employees about the company's public policy goals, monitoring and analyzing state and local legislative activity, helping to plan events for employees to engage elected officials, and collaborating with internal partners.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in public policy, possess strong communications skills and be able to manage multiple projects while adhering to deadlines.

Essential Functions and Duties

Strengthen U.S. Bank's Brand and Reputation; Advocate on Public Policy Issues

* Support the development and growth of the employee political engagement program

* Assist in planning events for employees to engage elected officials in state capitols and at company facilities

* Manage resources to support employee engagements with elected officials, including training presentations, policy issue summaries, talking points and other resources

* Work with various company divisions to implement strategies to enhance U.S. Bank's reputation with public policymakers

Strategic and Legislative Planning

* Monitor legislative and regulatory activity in municipalities where U.S. Bank has a significant presence

* Research and analyze emerging state and local legislative trends that impact the company

* Aggregate data and manage a dashboard to reflect Government Relations activities, business goals and outcomes

Communicating State and Local Issues

* Plan and coordinate with internal partners to host events to educate employees about the company's public policy priorities

* Develop written communications to inform employees of state and local legislative trends and the company's public policy initiatives

* Collaborate with Government Relations team to identify opportunities to educate U.S. Bank senior leadership, business lines and other employee groups on public policy and advocacy initiatives.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Political Science or related field

* 5-7 years of experience in public policy or government relations.

* Thorough understanding of public policy and the legislative process

* Ability to partner with internal customers, business line and/or project leaders

* Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

* Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and meet critical deadlines

* Knowledge of the financial services industry
