Program Assistant - Part Time

Responsibilities: To enhance the quality of life for participants according to established policies, procedures and objectives of the organizationSpecial Features/Requirements (license, certificates, etc):

CNA, CBRF medication trained and previous experience working with specialized populations including older adults, memory impairments, physical disabilities and/or persons with cognitive disabilities preferred. Adheres to organizations policies and procedures, federal/state regulations and guidelines (including participant rights), maintains neat and well-groomed appearance while adhering to the dress code of the organization/program, maintains a demeanor that reflects positively on the organization.

Essential Functions:

* Adheres to participant's care plan

* Maintains and promotes a person-centered approach to care

* Provides input and assistance with activity planning and scheduling; maintains flexibility to make unscheduled activity and assignment changes

* Conducts and/or assists with daily program tasks and assigned 1:1 and group activities utilizing interpersonal skills to meet participant needs

* Escorts participants to and from activities

* 1:1 Program Assistants first priority is the participant they are working with 1:1. Each 1:1 participant's care plan will be the guideline for all cares, activities and any information relating to that individual

* 1:1 Program Assistants will assist other staff members by either engaging the 1:1 participant in that appropriate activity or will assist with duties such as, but not limited to, personal cares, tidying up, interaction with other participants, etc. Non 1:1 related tasks may be performed if the 1:1 participant's needs are being met

* Program Assistants will request assistance from each other as needed and collaborate respectfully with each other

* Assist participants with personal cares including using the restroom, pericare, showers, changing incontinence products, transferring, etc.

* Assist participants with medication administration under the supervision of nursing supervisor

* Prepares and/or serves meals and snacks daily

* Assists participants with dining needs

* Cleans and sanitizes dishes and general dining areas after each meal and as needed

* Cleans and sanitizes common areas, equipment and supplies after activities

* Observes and reports behavioral and physical health changes in participants

* Observes and records participant attendance and responses

* Assists the Director to maintain participant files and documentation of information including vitals, activities and cares

* Assists the Director to provide verbal and written communication families and providers and participant care plan programming

* Has access to confidential information/records and maintains confidentiality

* Attendance and participation is expected in staff meetings, trainings and in-services

* Regular attendance is required

* Projects a positive image of the organization while working with participants, coworkers and the public

Physical Requirements (based on essential functions):

Frequently assists clients with transfers from wheelchair to toilet or to recliner or to a bed. Frequently pushes/pulls participants in wheelchairs weighting 200+ pounds a distance of approximately 600 feet; frequently lifts and carries activity equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds; occasionally reaches above shoulder height; frequently reaches at or below shoulder heights; occasionally walks on uneven ground; occasionally squats, kneels, climbs stairs and ladders; frequently twists, stoops, bends, 99% of work day is spent inside, 1% outside; 30% of work is standing, 45% walking, and 25% sitting. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with participants, families/caregivers, coworkers and public.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic direct care professional who will help serve individuals with cognitive or developmental disabilities, memory impairments and/or physical or health challenges.

Must be able to work a flexible and variable schedule Monday-Friday day time hours, total of 12-24 hrs/week. NO WEEKENDS & NO HOLIDAYS. CNA is preferable, but not a requirement. Willing to train the right candidate.
