Trade Desk Specialst - Chicago, IL

The Trade Desk Specialist for BMO Harris Financial Advisors is accountable to execute all trade orders originating from BMO Harris Financial Advisors. This role is accountable to ensure prompt and efficient trade execution, communicate market conditions/offerings, and comply with various regulatory and procedural requirements.

Key Accountabilities

100%: Business Delivery & Operations

Purchase and sell securities without error to maximize value and minimize transaction costs

Provide security selection, execution, and portfolio construction (including credit, duration, and sector) advice to portfolio managers (fixed income only)

Maintain a strong network of financially sound broker-dealers to ensure effective execution; allocate trading activity to maximize effectiveness of network

Ensure compliance with all directives, policies, procedures, codes of ethics, regulations, and other guidelines

Periodically and systematically advise portfolio managers of prolonged open orders

Effectively make use of state-of-the-art trading and trade order management systems to enhance efficiency

Implement daily trade blotter and reconciliation processes; investigate and resolve imbalances (equity only)

Assist back office personnel to resolve trade settlement problems

Support use of minority broker-dealers

Ensure all issues purchased appear on current Harris Bank working lists (fixed income only)

Allocate commissions to research and soft dollar brokers in accordance with annual plan (equity only)

Remain breast of market and time-critical trade-related issues; communicate salient issues are necessary


Bachelor's degree or minimum 3 years trading experience


* Working knowledge of securities industry

* Working organizational, communication and client relationship management skills

* Working problem solving skills

* Working knowledge of PCs and applicable systems
