JOB SUMMARY

In this job, you will work on a variety of equipment used to support the processes and the operation of both factory and office buildings mechanical systems on the John R. Conrad Industrial Complex. You will work on HVAC, compressed air, boiler, domestic water, plumbing systems, truck dock levelers, elevators, roofing, sliding and overhead doors, pedestrian doors, windows, and other facilities and structural repairs that fall under the responsibility of the department. Prior experience is required in performing mechanical work on these types systems. EPA Section 608 Technician Certification for refrigeration certification preferred. You will also perform preventive tasks and help towards developing preventive programs.

Other tasks associated with this job includes but are not limited to the following:

* Performing some equipment testing using various measuring tools and instruments such as meters and verniers.

* Analyzing test results and implementing appropriate actions or repairs.

* Using a variety of hand and power tools such as wrenches and pliers.

Working in disagreeable working conditions including exposure to chemicals, dirt, oil, grease, working at various heights, and working in outdoor weather conditions.

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

* Proficiency with shop math, hand tools and some understanding of mechanical gauges.

* Ability to read mechanical blueprints.

* Basic understanding of applicable OSHA safety regulations.

* Ability to navigate through multiple computer screens.

* Welding experince

Relevant Experience Required: Formal trade school preferred with good troubleshooting skills with facilities equipment. One to three years experience.

MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS

* Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking

* Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging from 5 lbs. to 40 lbs.

* Walking: Walking distances up to ΒΌ mile with tools or parts weighting up to 5 lbs.

* Carrying: Occasionally carry items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.

* Pushing: Occasionally use hand truck to move parts to a moderate distance.

* Pulling: Occasionally use hand truck to move parts to a moderate distance.

* Bending: Frequent bending and crouching required to complete work assignments.

* Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.

* Handling: Continuous handling of parts along with a variety of hand tools.

* Other: Respirator Certification required.
