Marketing Photo Studio Shop Technician (MPSST0318-999PH1)

* Maintain fabrication shop and tools as well as research new tools and processes.

* Maintain responsibility for setting the pace of set preparation to maximize photography output, anticipating creative changes and merchandise delays.

* Maintain standards for set care use, maintenance, storage and safety.

* Modify all set pieces to simplify installation.

* Determine fabrication standards for new set pieces.

* Train and exhibit studio set construction best practices.

* Perform daily photography studio operations, organization, maintenance and safety functions.

* Order and maintain photography studio construction materials.

* Lead assistants by creating a workflow task schedule, allocating duties efficiently and managing team projects.

* Understand and maintain project scope.

* Manage third party fabrication projects.

* Manage production resources against creative requests.

* Establish thorough training and safety practices

* Elevate or restrict creative requests appropriately based upon changing factors

* Provide solutions to rigging and special effects challenges.

* Build cost effective, modular and reusable photography sets.

* Work closely with Senior Set Lead and Studio Manager to plan ahead for upcoming seasons.

* Work with Studio Manager to Manage fabrication shop budget and resources.

* Collaborate with Scenic Design to enhance execution, create visual solutions and offer options to enhance set building.

* Work with marketing photo studio Manager and marketing photo studio Senior Set Lead on photo shoot operations.

* Work with Art Directors, Stylists, marketing photo studio Manager and Senior Set Lead to understand creative direction.

* Provide access to the photography studio for staff; open and close studio, as needed.

Required Skills

* High school diploma/GED or equivalent

* 2 years previous photo shoot experience

* 6 years previous wood working/shop experience

* Practical operational experience with all general hand and power tools used in carpentry

* Shop management architecture/design/art/fabrication training a plus

* Possess understanding of general photography studio functions and photography industry practices

* Experience with trucks up to 24' and cargo vans; loading dock equipment; pallet jack, hand truck, dolly; power tools used in carpentry

* General proficiency in safe use of power tools and carpentry

* Basic math skills, good reading and written language skills (English)

* Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills

* Ability to move and/or lift up to 65 lbs; heavier merchandise with team assist.

* Good reading, written and verbal language skills (English)
