HIM CODING MANAGER

Reporting to our assistant director of HIM Clinical Data, this professional will be responsible for the direction, supervision, evaluation, and general management of coding and clinical documentation specialist staff members. This position will provide leadership to manage and maintain efficient coding & CDI processes for UCM which will be accomplished through policy & procedure development, standardizing coding operations, planning and providing coding education, auditing, and monitoring regulatory updates. This position will also proactively manage the unbilled accounts daily to ensure department goals are met.

Requirements

* Associate's degree in health information management (HIM), business administration, healthcare administration, computer science, or related.

* Registered health information administrator (RHIA) or registered health information technician (RHIT).

* Five or more years of lead/supervisory experience in a health information management department, of which two or more are directly related to ICD-10, CPT, DRG, and/or APC coding within an acute-care hospital setting.

* Extensive knowledge of JCAHO, CMS, ACS, COC, and IDPH standards and requirements related to HIM; and HIPAA related to patient privacy and information security, and human relations

* The ability to prioritize and perform a variety of duties within a system featuring frequently changing assignments, priorities, and deadlines.

* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to impart knowledge of procedures and techniques. •Thorough working knowledge of 3M HDM Abstracting System and 3M Codefinder/DRGfinder, as well JCAHO standards for chart completion.

* Bachelor's degree

* Experience within a bargaining unit setting.
