Instructional Coach

Position Summary:

The instructional coach will support the professional learning of classroom teachers using a coaching model to support effective implementation of best practices in instruction for bright students with learning disabilities.

Essential Functions and Duties:

* Support the implementation of the school's identified instructional programs, strategies, technology, and assessments through coaching and training (80%)

* Facilitates the growth of staff by, though not limited to,

* Maintaining ongoing meetings with staff

* Finding resources

* Building relationships

* Modeling design and steering implementation of various instructional and assistive technologies into staff practices

* Identifying the need, designing, and creating support materials for staff and students

* Collaborates with staff in the implementation of instructional programs, methodologies, and technology tools with individual students or as a class

* Designs, plans and provides ongoing professional development activities in a variety of different formats/times of day

* Conducts demonstration lessons

* Observes classroom lessons and provides feedback

* Participates in ongoing professional development in order to effectively support the instructional programs, methodologies and assistive technology aligned to our mission

* Maintains a variety of files, documents and/or records

* Communicates with staff, parents and students for a variety of purposes and in a variety of formats

* Technical Responsibilities (20%)

* Supports staff, students and parents with basic troubleshooting to maintain an efficient and functional working environment

* Creates materials

* Provides training

* Maintains the function of variety of devices (PC/Mac Platform, interactive whiteboards, tablets/iPads, printers/copiers, document cameras and emerging technologies)

* Works with outside technical companies under the supervision of the Director of Technology

* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a professional demeanor

* Performs other related duties as assigned

Position Salary & Benefits:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5 years' experience and/or training

* Master's degree in Education preferred

* Professional Educator License


* Knowledge of best practices for teaching and learning

* Knowledge and experience with students with learning disabilities

* Knowledge and experience with instructional and assistive technology

* Knowledge and experience with coaching

* Ability to work with teachers and students to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process

* Ability to be a self-starter

* Outstanding oral and written communication skills

* Strong planning, organizational and presentation skills

* Strong human relation skills

* Wilson Level 1 Certification preferred

Working Environment:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
