Chief of Thoracic Surgery

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiothoracic Surgery, seeks a full-time Chief of Thoracic Surgery. Responsibilities will include patient care, related teaching and leadership of the Thoracic Surgery Service.

Prior to the start of employment, an individual must possess the following qualifications: (1) be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (or equivalent); (2) have completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in Thoracic Surgery; and (3) be able to obtain permanent and unrestricted Illinois medical licensure. Preferred qualifications include: a minimum of five years post fellowship clinical activity in thoracic oncology surgery and lung transplantation; two years of administrative experience; and availability to begin employment by July 1, 2016. Compensation and academic rank are dependent upon qualifications; the position includes a generous package of fringe benefits.
