Budget and Reporting Lead

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for overseeing the Bank's annual budget and the financial reporting process. Provides analytical and decision support to senior management and supervises direct reports which include:

* Provides training

* Development of staff goals, conducts performance reviews, development of staff

* Provides guidance and work direction to staff

* Provides hiring and staff disciplinary recommendations

* Reviews and approves others' work

The level of work is considered advanced and staff must work under minimal supervision. This position does have direct reports.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for overseeing the Bank's annual budget process, including the review of departmental budgets and development of the District's budget documents

* Responsible for overseeing the Bank's financial reporting and analysis function, including Senior Management briefing to ensure that all information is distributed timely and accurately

* Responsible for overseeing the Bank's forecasting process, including the review of departmental forecasts and development of forecasting reports and analysis

* Provides consultation to Bank management on budget, financial reporting and cost accounting matters

* Prepares written memos, reports and presentations on budget and reporting matters, as well as, any other special projects

* Fulfills administrative responsibilities as follows: capital and expense budgets, audit interface, staff incentive development/monitoring, staff recognition awards, staff education coordination

* Provides input to employee recruiting, training, and award programs, including conducting performance management duties

* Provides direction to department staff regarding work responsibilities, work flow and Bank and/or departmental policies

* Participation in Bank wide and System wide initiatives as a representative of the department and 7th district

* Maintains a good understanding of the major businesses and functions of the Federal Reserve, both within the District and across the System

* Performs other duties as required

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent as noted below

* 5 to 7 plus years of direct work related experience

* Coursework in Cost Accounting, Financial Analysis, Statistics

Knowledge and Skills:

* Independent thinking and decision-making abilities

* Possess and applies both specific and broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the field of specialization of the completion of assignments

* Proficient knowledge of current technology and software applications, including the ability to create and modify complex spreadsheets (Microsoft applications)

* Strong verbal and written communications and data analysis skills

* Knowledge of the Bank and departmental operations with expertise in one or more of the following areas preferred: advanced analytical techniques, Federal Reserve System cost accounting (PACS), Financial Accounting Manual (FAM, Priced Service Cost/Revenue Reporting (CORE), and generally accepted accounting principles

* Knowledge of System-level issues preferred

* A leader with the ability to build teams and coalitions and provide direction to junior team members
