BASIC FUNCTION:

This Assistant General Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice, support, coordination and guidance on complex legal matters and projects relating to corporate governance, subsidiary operations, and financial, insurance, and healthcare regulations. This is a senior level attorney position. This position takes the lead on and is responsible for providing guidance and leadership on regulatory filings and requests. This position shall represent the Company in dealings with applicable regulatory bodies and government agencies e.g., Department of Insurance, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and state and federal agencies. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with excellent judgment and substantive experience in managed health care and insurance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

* Law degree from accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois (or eligible for admission as in-house counsel).

* 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney with insurance or healthcare experience

* Demonstrated ability to function as a self-starter and value-add contributor in a fast-paced practice.

* Demonstrated experience with financial, insurance and healthcare regulations.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Highly developed risk assessment and decision making skills and abilities, including the ability to think strategically on legal and business issues to deliver quality and timely legal advice and services to mitigate risk and provide proactive business counsel.

* Excellent time management and organizational skills, along with ability to manage shifting priorities and demands.
