The Office of the General Counsel for Loyola University Chicago, located at 820 N. Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago, seeks an administrative assistant skilled in office support and attention to detail, for this full-time opportunity.

Responsibilities of this position include: meeting and appointment coordination, report and database maintenance, organizing case or matter files, gathering records, answering phones, greeting clients, word processing, photocopying, faxing, preparing legal documents and forms, and other miscellaneous tasks required to assist attorneys in meeting the needs of clients. The position may involve meeting short deadlines in an intense, often fast-paced atmosphere. The person hired will handle confidential and sensitive information on a daily basis and will need to interact in a professional manner with a wide variety of individuals, including attorneys and administrators, from within and outside the University. Prior experience in a law office with both litigation and transactional matters is preferred. Prior experience with internet-based filing and docket systems, and computerized legal research databases is preferred.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent

One to three years of relevant experience


Qualified candidates for this position must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, proven secretarial and administrative experience, strong organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, self-motivation, the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively in a team environment, attention to detail, accuracy, sound judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality, strong proofreading skills, and the ability to type 60 wpm with accuracy are required. Desired computer skills include experience with Microsoft Windows, Word, Access, Excel, Outlook and Adobe.
