Claim Examiner, Auto

Position Responsibilities:

* Manage claims in multiple jurisdictions

* Analyze first reports and make appropriate contacts

* Investigate and document claims accurately and on a timely basis

* Maintain well documented file notes as well as hard file documentation

* Negotiate and settle claims within own authority or supervision granted authority

* Evaluate exposures and set accurate and timely reserves

* Independently identify and resolve issues

* Effectively control the use, quality and expense of outside vendors

* Effectively manage claims inventory and claims to an acceptable resolution

* Adhere to all regulations and Unfair Claims Practices Acts

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Articulate in written and oral communication

* Demonstrated commitment to delivering high caliber customer claim service

* Demonstrated listening and negotiation skills

* Demonstrated organizational skills to manage own claim inventory under moderate to full supervision

* Demonstrated knowledge and attention to detail in insurance contracts and coverage, in investigating less complex to moderately complex claims, applying applicable laws, and setting timely and accurate reserves

* Team player that is willing to learn and share knowledge within a team environment

* Must obtain and maintain necessary licenses

Education and Experience:

* 2-3 years claim handling experience strongly preferred

* Some evening, weekend, holiday and Catastrophe work required

* Participate in assigned Catastrophes or special duty, as necessary

* Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

* Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with a wide spectrum of people internally and externally

* Adjuster license strongly preferred

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
