Purpose: This position is responsible for the procurement of direct and indirect materials for the day to day operations of our manufacturing process.

Job Description:

  • Order materials and components from submitted purchase requisitions and bill of material lists.
  • Ensure purchase orders and other documents are submitted to vendors, and verified, in a timely manner.
  • Cooperate and/or negotiate with vendors as needed to achieve specific material delivery date requirements.
  • Sales and order release of Clamping Products and spare parts.
  • Responsible for performing assigned duties to promote the effectiveness of the purchasing function relating to procurement, total cost reductions, new products, supplier development and performance, and sourcing strategies. Under a minimum of supervision, source materials and products at best possible price insuring satisfactory quality, performance, and delivery to meet Company objectives and customer requirements.
  • Assist in the review of all major contract specifications to keep informed on their content and work from contract specifications, quotations, purchase requisitions and estimates to regularly perform essential job functions.
  • Follows sourcing strategies, maintains supplier partner relationships, and evaluates supplier performance in cost/quality/delivery/technological support to drive continuous improvement. All above work is to be in conjunction with Materials Manager and higher level purchasing agents.
  • Continues programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery.
  • Maintains purchasing practices, contracts, assessments, and policies to insure honest, fair, and ethical relationships with our vendors.
  • Keeps abreast of materials and markets and materials pricing trends that effect Company products.
  • Prepare and issue all necessary reports and/or correspondence.
  • Initiate blanket purchase orders and one-time buy orders. Work closely with the Engineering and Material personnel to coordinate the purchase order.
  • Participate as a member in supplier negotiation sessions and follows negotiation strategies developed by the Purchasing Manager.
  • Cooperate with other departments in the procurement of price information on material to promote efficient, economical, and expeditious processing and manufacturing.

Basic Requirements:

  • High School, GED, Vocational High School, or Technical College, or equivalent experience
  • Software specific training.
  • Basic understanding of machine capabilities and shop processes beneficial, including machine tooling and production and fabrication processes.
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in equipment build environment.
  • General Computer Aptitude.
  • Communications Skills.
