General Summary: Under the direction of the Infant and Toddler Teacher, the Infant and Toddler Teacher Assistant will provide care for infants and toddlers in a group setting, planning, developing, implementing, and documenting the delivery of comprehensive services within the classroom in accordance with policies, procedures, and philosophy of CCRC Head Start 0-5.

This postion works part-year from August until May or June.

Successful candidates will need the following:

Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.

3 units in infant/toddler development course work

6 months experience working with families and children in a preschool setting required.

1 year of experience working with developmentally disabled/delayed or behaviorally challenged children including supporting Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and/or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) using social-emotional curriculum and inclusion methods is preferred.

Hold a current California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Child Development Associate Teacher permit or higher.

Ability to converse, write, and/or translate in Spanish or Armenian preferred.

Criminal Records (e.g. Live Scan Fingerprinting), Child Abuse Index Check, Sexual Offender Registry, Health and Tuberculosis (TB) test clearances required.

Hold a valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate upon hire or within 30 days of hire.

Show ability to have flexibility, maturity of judgment, and ability to work collegially.

Uphold the values and principles of the organization.

Valid California Driver's License, reliable vehicle, automobile insurance, and clean DMV record preferred.

Ability to supervise pre-school children and ensure a safe environment including the ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom, outdoor play areas and on field trips.

Ability to respond appropriately to an emergency or a crisis situation.

Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, families, and the community to work as part of a team, and collaborate with colleagues.

Ability to maintain all assigned workflow and a high level of customer satisfaction in a fast paced working environment

You will have the opportunity to:

Within a team structure, provide quality services for infants and toddlers enrolled in the Early Head Start center based program which include the following responsibilities:

Interactions with Children and Families

* Implement a culturally, linguistically, and developmentally appropriate individual and small group activities utilizing lesson plan, daily schedule and classroom materials. Implement with fidelity the Creative Curriculum to encompass current program School Readiness Goals. Follow daily indoor and outdoor activities to provide an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the development levels, interests, and special talents of infant and/or toddler. Ensure and maintain a clean and safe indoor and outdoor learning environment on a daily basis. Sanitizing toys and classroom equipment, including eating, diapering and napping area as needed. Provide care for all infants and toddlers including feeding, diapering, and holding. Communicate regularly with parents, regarding each child's progress. Conduct the required parent conferences and home visits to establish individual goals, classroom progress, and provide educational strategies at school and home. Assist with Transition into Early Head Start program and out of Early Head Start program.

Staff Relationships

* Ensure the daily routine and functions of the classroom are working and being implemented; rotate classroom responsibilities and support other staff to complete all classroom duties on a daily basis. Actively involved in the Individual Education Plan processes by participating in meetings, making referrals, active in assessments, goals planning, and ensuring children are receiving services. Maintain communication and professional boundaries at all times with staff and parents.

Administrative Functions

* Maintain a system of confidentiality for records and information of Head Start families. Ensure monthly reports are accurate and submitted to Infant Toddler Teacher and Center Director. Collect observations for ongoing assessments to ensure child outcomes are meeting agency benchmarks. Read, analyze, and interpret data from the DRDP (2015). Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, effective teaching strategies, regulations, licensing, DCFS, and diversity application. Assist with generating in-kind.
