Mgr, Software Quality Assuranc

Job Summary

A Manager, Software Quality Assurance is expected to lead the Velogica testing team in the review and refinement of business requirements and technical specifications, and in the design, development and execution of test plans which verify that those requirements and specifications are completely and accurately fulfilled.

* Key duties and responsiblities

* Acts as a Servant-Leader, working with other Managers to create an environment where all team members can achieve autonomy, mastery and purpose.

* Create and maintain best practices for the planning, execution and evaluation of tests to ensure the conformance of the Velogica® system to business requirements and technical specifications, both for system enhancements and existing functionality.

* Help the QA team continuously improve in their ability to Identify requirement, design or software defects, analyze defect causes, assist with resolutions and communicate issues quickly and clearly.

* Contribute to the successful fulfillment of business needs by leading the testing team in their contribution to the predictable, efficient delivery of high-quality software.

* Maintain and improve test coverage of Velogica®, including expanding the regression test coverage provided by automated tests.

* Contribute to a consistent and stable automated regression.

* Identify opportunities for improvement in QA processes and tools and execute upon those opportunities.

* Follow the Velogica software development lifecycle and conform to best practices.

* Work closely with Product Owner and developers to review and refine business requirements, software requirements and detailed designs.

* Creating, presenting and maintaining user stories and the associated acceptance criteria.

* Create and maintain project, system and testing documentation as needed.

* Ensuring successful fulfillment of acceptance criteria, including participating in reviews of technical designs and validation of completion.

* Participate in sprint planning and daily scrum meetings to provide clear status of progress and identification of impediments.

* Foster and participate in a culture of continuous improvement.

* Adhere to SCOR Information Security policies and best practices, including security awareness training and other information protection initiatives.

* Other duties as required for the position.

* Required experience and Education

* BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or fields which require logic and critical thinking, or equivalent experience (preferably in a financial services industry).

* 3+ years QA testing or programming experience preferred.

* Demonstrated experience creating test scenarios, test plans, test cases and test scripts and project time estimates as part of a software development lifecycle (SDLC)

* Demonstrated experience conducting functional, integration, performance, regression testing

* Demonstrated experience understanding data models and designing, developing and executing SQL scripts against complex data models.

* Demonstrated experience testing back-end (non-GUI) systems (preferably systems built with a service-oriented architecture).

* Familiarity with basic structures of programming languages, XML or similar software technology.

* Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills

* Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to set clear goals, provide technical guidance and foster a safe and productive work environment.

* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

* Highly motivated, self-directed worker capable of developing detailed tasks from abstract assignments.

* Regular attendance is a minimum requirement of this role.

* Availability to work additional hours to meet challenging deadlines.

* Insurance / Re-insurance experience, preferred.
