SUMMARY:

CTE is seeking a junior level Infrastructure Engineer to join the Network & Telecom team and focus on the day-to-day support of VoIP and Unified Communications systems. The ideal candidate should be familiar with core TCP/IP fundamentals, Cisco access switch configuration, possess excellent troubleshooting and communications skills and be highly motivated towards pursuing opportunities to expand both the breadth and depth of their pool of knowledge. The candidate will be supported by a team of experienced engineers, analysts, and outside professional services in the near term, but is expected to work toward qualifying as an Engineer II and establishing themselves as CTE’s telecom subject-matter-expert within two years. Training and mentorship will be provided to supplement self-directed investigation and study towards this goal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitoring telecom ticket queue and triaging of issues
  • Serve as an escalation path for Telecom Analyst
  • Daily operational and maintenance tasks
  • Engagement with business managers to gather and report call flow requirements
  • Systems documentation and report creation
  • Vendor support coordination and service ticket initiation
  • Assisting senior engineers with projects and/or advanced troubleshooting and incident resolution
  • Some irregular travel within the Southeastern US for projects and meetings.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 3+ year experience with IT Infrastructure/Operations responsibilities
  • Familiarity with fundamental TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP principles, as well as the OSI Network Model
  • Familiarity with Cisco IOS access switch configuration
  • Preferred Videoconferencing knowledge
  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and written
  • Ability to engage with business clients to ascertain their needs and represent the department
  • Team-oriented and able to work across other internal departments
  • Strong attention to detail and strong documentation
  • Ability to perform self-directed investigation and study of unfamiliar technical systems
