Job Summary

Community Managers are responsible for the overall operation and profitability of a multifamily community. Community Managers will attract, guide, develop and mentor high-performing teams. They are responsible for promoting and acting in accordance with our Camden policies and values to ensure our culture of workplace excellence is experienced by all team members.

Essential Functions

* Manages and leads team members to achieve team success

* Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills

* Strategically plans and meets individual and community performance goals consistent with market conditions (i.e., sales and marketing goals, customer sentiment goals, etc.)

* Achieves market results that consistently exceed submarket occupancy and rent growth performance

* Ensures that team provides Living Excellence at every point of contact, exceeding residents' expectations

* Creates a work place environment that supports Camden's commitment to being a great place to work

* Leads the team in effective outreach marketing

* Understands and complies with all Camden policies, procedures and applicable laws (e.g., fair housing laws and employment laws )

* Ensures community compliance with safety, industry, and state/city/federal regulations and requirements

* Recruit and develop a successful team

* Encourage individual and team accountability

* Effectively leverage resources to efficiently achieve desired results

* Build working relationships with team members, peers, leadership and support department associates

* Successfully manage change and lead through adversity

* Understand team members' professional goals and help them develop and achieve these goals

* Provide timely coaching and feedback to assigned staff/team

* Create and communicate long-term vision/goal(s)

* Understand the industry, competition, and market; apply this knowledge to improve results

* Take initiative to improve management ability, operating skills and job knowledge

* Lead or assist in special projects to create value for Camden. This may include due diligence, property acquisition or disposition, serving on or participating in company-sponsored/sanctioned committees and functions, etc.

* Oversee new development or rehabilitation of a community (i.e., market surveys/strategies, provide property management insight/input to construction team or contractor, walk apartments, punch-out, etc.)

* Attend and participate in Camden's training programs

* Maintain professional image at all times

* Be involved in appropriate external associations, organizations, and local communities

Experience and Special Knowledge

* Position requires a minimum of 2 years on-site experience as a Leasing Consultant and/or Assistant Community Manager; will consider 3 years supervisory experience in a customer service-related business with appropriate certification(s)

* Must have a valid driver's license unless otherwise noted

Education

* High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred

Specific Skills/Equipment

* Recognized designation in property management is a plus

* A clear understanding of business concepts, processes and the principles of strategic thinking

* Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of multifamily operations including: people management, financial reporting, problem-solving, sales, maintenance and resident relations.
