Senior Specialist Cost Estimating - Metals

The Cost Engineering department is a strategic function within Purchasing; it consists of approximately 40 experts in Gothenburg, 16 in China and 1 in South Carolina, USA with extensive experience and skills within all different types of production methods used by our suppliers of parts for Volvo cars. The department uses state-of-the-art calculation software for both parts and tools.

The Cost Engineering department is now in search of a Cost Engineer with Metal experience. The role of a Cost Engineer is to provide the Volvo Cars Direct Purchasing Department with specialized competence regarding fact based cost analysis on Purchased parts and Tooling. As a Cost Engineer you will work independently and together in teams.

We are now in search for you who have an extensive background in OEM or automotive supplier within metals. Willing to take on new challenges within the Cost Engineering team at Volvo Cars in Charleston.

Principal Responsibilities:

* Ensuring value for money when purchasing parts, by delivering cost estimates and arguments as a base for a fact based negotiation

* Calculating the piece price cost for production of parts

* Perform cost calculations in engineering phases for new projects

* Calculating the tooling cost for all VCC unique parts

* Supporting the team in important negotiations with suppliers

Job Specifications:


* Technical university degree or equal relevant working experience

* At least 5-10 years of working experience

* Proven knowledge from the manufacturing or tooling industry within one or several of the following areas; Assembly, Casting, Machining, Welding, Extrusion, Forging, Assembly, Surface treatment, Sheet metal forming

* Experience in cost calculations

* Fluent in English, both spoken and written
