Job Overview:

Responsible for the total performance of the Top coat areas of the paint shop. Leads the pretreatment and top coat production activities. Accountable for department performance and quality assurance.

Responsibilities:

* Ensures continued improvement processes it increase productivity and improvement of quality standards; documents results and aligns with other departments

* Develops, tests, and implements measures to improve production processes; works closely with maintenance department

* Contributes to the planning and implementation of new work processes to increase productivity; provides suggestions and input to improve production process, productivity, and quality

* Controls and monitors production processes to ensure achievement of production plan in line with productivity objectives; coordinates production process and flow across departments; identifies issues and bottlenecks

* Defines cost targets, documents and monitors achievement, and if necessary implement corrective measures

* Reports on production progress and defines maintenance and repair activities

* Assesses new deigns and impact on production process, quality, quantity, efficiency, and resources; Develops production layout

* Considers and ensures compliance of product-specific and plant-specific environmental concerns and government regulations

* Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, directives, and work agreements

* Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings

* Will perform other duties as assigned

* 1-2 Engineers possible and 2-3 Group leaders as direct reports, 150-200 indirect reports; Leads employees in line with organizational culture, values and guidelines; defines performance goals, conducts performance reviews; effectively communicates and engages employees to meet objectives

* Responsible for employee development and qualification

* Will be responsible to plan, maintain, and meet department budgets; Manages budget and personnel allocation efficiently. Conveys budget distribution and cost saving processes to colleagues.

* Bachelor's degree. Minimum of 5-8 years of experience vehicle manufacturing and paint shop

* Qualified candidate must have extensive knowledge in paint and e-coat applications using state of the art automated and robotic equipment

* Must have excellent knowledge in LEAN manufacturing and how to apply it in a modern work environment

* Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in an intercultural, fast paced, changing, and growing environment

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Metris van was added to the assembly line in 2015.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC announced in March 2015 that it will invest $500 million in construction of a new Sprinter production plant, in addition to an expansion of existing operations. In July 2016, MBV officially broke ground on the site of its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade.

More than 112,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
