Assist the Executive Housekeeper and the Assistant Executive Housekeeper with overseeing the cleanliness of the entire hotel and ensuring that the housekeeping staff are well-trained and supervised. Assist the Director with overseeing all areas of the Housekeeping Department and ensuring the cleanliness of the entire hotel. Assist with developing and administering master cleaning schedules. Inspect the cleaning and servicing of guestrooms; report or repair any problems.


  • Delegate special assignments as directed by the Director.
  • Ensure that all GRA's are neat and well organized and have appropriate supplies and linens.
  • Assist in processing PM room status reports.
  • Ensure linen closets are completely stocked.
  • Inspect all VIP rooms and Show rooms daily.
  • Inspect turndowns nightly.
  • Conduct morning briefing with all Housekeeping staff.
  • Evaluate the staffing requirements and prepare work schedules weekly, adhering to budget goals.
  • Ensure that sufficient staffing is present to meet the daily business demands.
  • Communicate anticipated business demands daily with entire department.
  • Ensure staff's knowledge of hotel services, features, and amenities.
  • Monitor and ensure that the Housekeeping staff perform their job functions to the hotel's expected level of service.
  • Assist the staff whenever necessary in performing all job functions.
  • Accommodate all guest requests in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Coordinate all group requests and needs.
  • Ensure all supplies are ordered with accurate usage factors and are received in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all pertinent information is documented in the logbook daily.
  • Complete daily walk-throughs with the night cleaners and evaluate their work.
  • Coach and counsel staff to correct any inappropriate behavior or sub-standard performance.
  • Handle all disciplinary counseling as needed according to Belmond Charleston Place policy.
  • Inspect grooming and attire of staff; rectify any deficiencies.
  • Conduct ongoing training with existing staff and ensure that new staff are trained as required.
  • Enhance company EEO position by making a good faith effort to recruit, select, develop, and retain protected class employees.
  • Ensure that all unit staff attend required training in hazardous communication, safety, and sanitation as established by local and government regulations.
  • Mentor and train appropriate employees to next managerial position.
  • Tour and inspect all public and guest areas several times daily.
  • Help keep staff turnover to a minimum.
  • Maintain close and open communication with other departments.
  • Promote an open-door policy with all employees.
  • Accommodate all guest requests in an accurate end efficient manner.
  • Ensure that the hotel's Lost & Found policy is adhered to.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and working condition of department equipment and supplies.
  • Interview, hire and train new staff; conduct performance appraisals of designated staff as required.
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of hotel features/services, outlets, hours of operation, etc.
  • Practice emergency procedures in compliance with hotel/company standards; react and assist in hotel emergency situations as needed.
  • Be an ambassador of the hotel and the company at all times, in and outside of the work place.
  • Strive to continuously improve.
  • Ensure by example that the Belmond philosophy is known.
  • Observe standards for the department in image, appearance, and grooming; properly represent the company and the profession to outside organizations and the community.
  • Be knowledgeable of, implement, communicate, and comply with policies of Belmond, Belmond Charleston Place and its Hotel Human Resources Department.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all guest and general hotel information.
  • Assist in other areas as needed.
  • Use utilities and resources in a responsible manner to control wastage.
  • Communicate relevant information to the department, your line manager and across departments, as appropriate.
  • Comply with safe working practices, Health and Safety policy and ensure accidents/defects are reported immediately.
  • Attend learning and development courses and complete eLearning modules, as required.
