Responsibilities

Aerospace Cyber Software and Testing Department (CSTD) is looking for an Associate Director to lead and grow a team of engineers who design, implement and deploy cyber solutions to defend our nation's space enterprise. We support a variety of customers including the Space Missile Center (SMC), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and other civil customers (e.g. NASA), and they all face incredible challenges in protecting their ground networks and satellites systems from sophisticated adversaries. The Associate Director will provide technical management and leadership in the development of cyber defense capabilities to help strengthen our customers' security posture as they migrate from legacy stove-piped systems to highly resilient, distributed systems utilizing latest technology such as cloud and SmallSats.

Key Functions

* Work with department director and other managers as needed in all aspects of developing and managing the organization.

* Recruit, hire, mentor, and lead staff to create cutting edge prototypes in the fields of ground and spacecraft cyber security, cryptography, automated software analysis, secure DevOps

* Interface with the program office customers in task scoping, budget and project management.

* Identify new areas of research and lead project teams through the proposal, design and execution phases.

* Ensure the technical qualify of deliverables (reports, software, services, etc.) to customers.

* Manage the space cyber lab and identify/acquire software and hardware as needed.

* While this is a management position, the selected candidate is expected to get involved on a diverse set of technical projects. It is very important to be hands-on, willing to learn and be comfortable in working in an environment with engineers of diverse backgrounds

Qualifications

Required:

* Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Cybersecurity required

* 12 or more years of relevant engineering experience

* 5 or more years of combined experience in any of the following areas: software assurance, penetration testing, red/blue team exercise, defense cyber ops, DevSecOps, and cloud security,

* Proficient with multiple software and network security tools and ability to apply them as necessary

* Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete tasks, learn new technical approaches, mentor junior staff, lead technical efforts, and interact effectively with a broad range of organizations.

* Strong written and oral communications and interpersonal skills

* Active TS/SCI security clearance issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred:

* Advanced degrees (Master or PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Cybersecurity

* Experience with Agile methodology and team collaboration tools

* Experience working with DoD and NRO space systems and ground networks

* Experience with embedded, real-time systems and FPGA

* Experience with setting up and operating cybersecurity laboratory
