Job Title: Lead Satellite Payload Systems Engineer

Duration: 18-22 Months

Location: Centennial, CO

Salary Range: $110K-$150K

  • Develop and document complex electronic and electrical system specifications for satellite payloads, as well as hardware, software, and interface requirements.
  • Develop systems test and validation plans to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Assist in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
  • Develop statement-of-work and technical performance specifications.
  • Translate system architecture into hardware, software, and interface requirements.
  • Show requirements traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Resolve product integration issues and production anomalies.
  • Support fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet customer projected requirements.
  • Research specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
  • Understand and apply industry best practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.), from a technical college or university in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering is required
  • Must have five (5) years’ experience or more working as a System Engineer on satellite programs.
  • Applicants must have strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills and be able to work in a team environment (domestic and international) - previous design team or special project team participation is desired.
  • Ability to conceive, develop, optimize, maintain and modify electronic/electrical system designs based on satellite program requirements.
  • Ability to provide technical coordination with internal and external suppliers and customers.
  • Knowledge of data and power system designs and architectures for satellite systems.
  • This position will also be responsible for working with our international counterparts in Europe.
  • Must have experience with U.S. government contracts and programs.
  • Travel is required for this position, less than 25%.

Desired Skills

  • Master’s Degree is desired
  • Knowledge of satellite design concepts and techniques (e.g., concurrent engineering, Model-based Engineering, Design for Manufacture/Assembly [DFM/A]) is preferred.
  • Ten years or more experience in working with data and power system designs and architectures preferred.
  • Ten years or more experience in working with satellite payload programs
