The incumbent supervises the shift operations for the paintmanufacturing facility through execution of the following key responsibilities:

* Provide a safe and healthy workenvironment for all employees through proper maintenance of equipment andfacilities and elimination of health hazards to prevent work stoppage and timeloss due to accidents, while ensuring adherence to all applicableenvironmental, health and safety regulations, standards and policies.

* Provide an effective managementprocesses to ensure safe work behavior by employees.

* Supervise the shift productionteams. Ensure that each subordinateunderstands and adheres to all company policies and procedures regardingsafety, health and the environment and that the proper training programs are inplace to ensure that all applicable standards are met. Effectively manageassociates, encouraging a continuous improvement of individual performance. Comply with all EEO policies and procedures.

* Assist in the facilitation of regularproduction meetings to enhance the communications between shifts andteams.

* Promote open discussion of processimprovements and techniques in order to drive the Plant toward cost andoperating objectives. Presentrecommendations to the Production/Site Manager and implement approved programs.

* Actively participate in implementingstrategies and policies, which constantly improve the day-to-day and long-termoperation of the plant. Provide inputinto decisions regarding direction, training, goal setting, discipline andother administrative functions.

* Provide back up in the absence of the Production/SiteManager

* Support the overall objectives of thePlant Leadership Team through active participation on plant projects and teamsas requested.

* A Bachelor's degree in engineering orrelated technical discipline in preferred. (In the absence of a degree, equivalent manufacturing experience withsuccessful completion of PPG Supervisor Assessment will be considered.)

* 3 – 5 years of previous manufacturingexperience.

* Thoroughknowledge of manufacturing operations and safety procedures

* Demonstratedtrack record of success in managing a safe and environmentally sound workenvironment

* Strongleadership skills

* Strongverbal and written communication skills

* Mustbe able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of theorganization as well as customers and suppliers.

* Strongresults orientation combined with ability to make sound, reasoned decisions

* Priorexperience in Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma strongly preferred
