Job Details

The Data Analyst is part of the IT data architecture organization, supporting the key areas of data strategy, data governance, and data operations. The data analyst is expected to develop a subject matter expertise in where data lives and how it relates to the domain. The role requires a general curiosity and ability to query and integrate data from heterogeneous data sources to provide insights about our data and systems. These insights will help drive and inform data architecture, projects, and data governance decisions.

The data analyst acts as a business area subject matter expert (SME), metadata analyst, data quality analyst, and helps with the identification and fitness for use of corporate data assets. It is expected that the data analyst maintains an organized and searchable repository of known data issues and limitations to facilitate sharing across the enterprise.

Key Accountabilities:

* Analysis and data profiling of disparate business systems (policy and claims administration systems), operational data stores, data warehouses, and reporting platforms

* Document data analysis, code, and processes to reuse and repeat analysis in the future

* Cleansing and integration of data to support ad-hoc reporting and analysis needs

* Identify patterns and anomalies within the data; offer creative solutions to handle as needed

* Develop skills competency in CNO's robust set of data technology tools

* Relational databases

* ETL and Data Integration

* Reporting and Analytics

* Data Modeling

* Metadata Management

* Data Catalog

* Lead efforts in creation and management of the CNO Data Catalog

* Contribute to the Data Governance Council by helping define data definitions and governance opportunities

* Facilitate technical discussions with system owners, data stewards, and business SMEs

Key Requirements:

* 1+ years experience in data related work (modeling, integration, reporting and analytics)

* High-degree of competency in SQL and relational databases

* Self-motivated with a desire to research and learn new skills in the data management space

* Above average level of experience in Excel

* Analytical and detail-oriented

* Observable client-facing skills

* Insurance industry experience preferred
