Human Resources Assistant

The Human Resources Assistant maintains employee personnel files, coordinates new hire orientations, and assists the Human Resources Director with various administrative needs and projects as needed.


* Enters and maintains employee data through the Human Resource Information System (HRIS). Inputs status, rate changes and other payroll related changes into HRIS. As needed, uses the HRIS to generate a variety of useful employee data reports.

* Maintains employee personnel files, work permits and HR confidential binders. Assists the Human Resources team with various administrative needs and projects as needed.

* Coordinates New Hire Orientations that foster a positive first impression of the company. Also, works with rest of human resources team in coordinating activities which include summer picnic, holiday party and recognition programs.

* Conducts pre-screening activities including reviewing applications, telephone screening and in-person screening. Confers with hiring managers regarding candidates. At times, may also perform reference checks for hiring managers.

* Researches and responds to employee questions relating to HR policies and procedures.

* Assists the human resources team with various administrative needs and projects as needed. Projects could include recruiting, employee activities, training, and employment referrals.


* 1-2 years human resources experience preferred

* Experience in heavy phones, multitasking duties, and general office duties

* Computer proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel.

* Must display a friendly, courteous and helpful attitude toward the Residents, other employees, and the public.

* Ability to communicate effectively in English and able to perform simple mathematics

* HR certificate a plus
