Variable Shift

Will prepare and cook meals, generally from scratch in accordance with the recipes for all meals being served on the given shift. Assists with receiving of deliveries, rotating stock, and clean multiple areas

Begin 
  • Prepare large quantities of food, following standardized recipes, within required production schedule and sanitation standards
  • Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting a shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry and fish for culinary use
  • Maintains basic food recipes, preparation, and service and storage sanitation principles.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance
  • Dependable and able to meet schedule requirements (attendance and punctuality) with no restrictions
  • Provides leadership and guidance to team members in the preparation and serving of high quality and great tasting meals
  • May select recipes per menu plan, prepare bakery items, receive inventory, move and list foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets
  • Deliver the highest level of customer and client services
  • Consistently practices key sanitation procedures and policies, especially hand washing, proper food storage and maintain appropriate temperature of foods
  • Consistently changes gloves from task to task properly washing hands in between glove changes
  • Wears cutting gloves on the hand that holds the product needing to be cut. This will protect for potential cuts and other harm to the cook
  • Cleans and sanitizes utensils and food preparation areas after use according to policy.
  • Practice safety, infection control and emergency procedures according to Southeast Health policies
  • May be appointed other assigned duties as needed

Become 
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Ability to work in direct contact with a variety of foods
  • Prefer 2 years related experience and/or training in food production
  • Prior quantity food production preferred
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
