Job Summary:

The Maritime Systems Technician will provide on-site maritime vessel support to activities that occur at DIA/ST/ATI-7 at CCAFS. This position serves as Maritime Specialist and Technician responsible for day-to-day support of multiple maritime vessels under control by ATI-7 that perform continuous test and demonstration activities. This shall include, but is not limited to, performing maintenance, repair, cleaning, and operational support as required to support ATI-7 activities. Responsible for all provisioning and galley operations to ensure safety, health, and hygiene of all crew and partner employees. Planning and coordinating upgrades for ATI-7 vessels to meet incoming R&D requirements, performing routine and specialized maintenance on vessels and maritime equipment and tracking program activities and reports status to synchronize and enhance the overall effectiveness of the ATI-7 maritime assets. Contractor may operate marine equipment such as cranes, A-frames, winches, and davits onboard vessels pier-side or at sea. Provides deck hand services for deploying and retrieving equipment in the water. The individual is required to support field activities and any ongoing offshore activities. The contractor shall have necessary first aid certifications including but not limited to, CPR and AED.

Essential Job Functions:

* Provide deck hand services for deploying and retrieving equipment in the water

* Provide ship maintenance activities such as protecting surfaces with paint and epoxy; cleaning key areas of the vessel prior to, during, and after operations; assisting with operational planning for multiday events; and providing shipboard services, including repairs, cleaning, maintenance, inventory, and operations for all ATI-7 events including multiday operations.

* Responsible for all provisioning and galley operations including, but not limited to, hygiene, sanitation, provisioning, planning, safety, security, and all other activities.

* Worldwide travel / time at sea is required

* Works with and provides direct support to the US Government so as to gain the necessary knowledge of the various sensors and platforms to ensure end to end test goals can be achieved according to preapproved test plans including all work for pre-deployment, deployment, test activities, recovery and post-test break down

* Have or obtain working knowledge of all maritime equipment located at CCAFS

* Works with US Government staff to gain understanding of the necessary activities involved in staging, deploying and retrieving various sensors and sensor payloads

* Support field demonstrations and any ongoing offshore activities

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Some experience with ship maintenance activities such as protecting surfaces with paint and epoxy; cleaning key areas of the vessel prior to, during, and after operations; assisting with operational planning for multiday events; and providing shipboard services, including repairs, cleaning, maintenance, inventory, and operations for all ATI-7 events including multiday operations.

* Experience with provisioning and galley operations including, but not limited to, hygiene, sanitation, provisioning, planning, safety, security, and all other activities.

* Some experience with providing direct support to the US Government in an R&D environment

* Some working knowledge of maritime equipment

* Some experience with field demonstrations and ongoing offshore activities

* Some knowledge of marine equipment such as cranes, A-frames, winches, and davits onboard vessels pier-side or at sea in support of all maritime research and development activities desired

* Some experience as a deck hand desired

* Experience with galley operations desired (onboard a ship is preferred)

* Some experience with rigging, line handling desired

* Some knowledge of vessel maintenance desired

* Multi-day time on vessels at sea desired

* Previous Government R&D experience desired

* Experience with test activities at sea desired

* Experience with filming and documenting at sea activities and events desired

Education:

* Associates Degree OR 5 years experience in lieu of degree

* Captain's License desired

* Able Bodied Seaman rating desired

Special Requirements:

* Physically capable of multiple days at sea on a research vessel

* Physically capable of handling and maintaining maritime equipment such as, but not limited to, cranes, A-frame, winches, and davits

* Travel at 75%

* Capable of qualifying for a Government TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

* Current first aid certification.
