Position Title: IT Business Intelligence Manager

Position Summary

The Business Intelligence (BI) Manager's role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the BI environment is in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. This individual will plan, coordinate, direct, and design BI related activities within IT. The BI Manager will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support reporting solutions for all aspects of the organization. Additionally, the BI Manager will define and implement IT policies, procedures and best practices for the BI environment in alignment with the corporate data and analytics strategy and roadmap.

Essential Job Functions

* Lead the BI Team's operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.

* Further improve self-service reporting and analytics throughout the company by providing the business with the tools required, the training and expertise required to use the tools, and unprecedented accessibility and visibility into the corporate data warehouse.

* Help to grow and foster the corporate data goveranance framework; work with the business and IT owners to help implement and grow pragmatic data policies and rules for governance.

* Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development and support of all BI systems.

* Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure that supports the BI and data warehousing environments.

* Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements in delivering new reporting functionality.

* Project manage the development releases of the internal BI application, CCIreports, using the Scrum development framework.

* Keep current with the latest business intelligence technologies.

* Manage financial aspects of the IT projects, including purchasing, budgeting and budget review.

* Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for BI spending and initiatives.

* Approve and oversee projects and project portfolio.

* Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures related to BI systems, including those for audit compliance, architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.

* Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourced, and consultant contracts and service agreements.

* Manage BI Team staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions.

* Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.

* Empower individual team members to both deepen and broaden their skills through growth opportunities in alignment with their goals


* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics or related quantitative field

* Scrum Master certification in Agile software development preferred

Experience/Minimum Requirements

* Five (5) years of management and thought leadership experience

* Seven (7) years of experience working in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing or Analytics

Other Skills/Abilities

* Track record of effectively evangelizing a data- and analytics-driven culture focused on trusted and easily accessible data for self-service purposes

* Demonstrated experience in maintaining governance principles to help manage enterprise data

* Experience with Meta and Master Data Management tools

* Strong technical knowledge of business intelligence software solutions, data warehouse architecture and ETL development

* Strong understanding of the best practices in data warehouse design and development

* Strong understanding of Scrum as and agile software development methodology for managing software projects or application development

* Extensive application support experience

* Proven experience in business intelligence infrastructure planning and development

* Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives

* Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices and procedures

* Strong understanding of project management principles

* Strong leadership skills

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required

* Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language

* Highly self-motivated and directed

* Keen attention to detail

* Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities

* Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

* Exceptional customer service orientation

* Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
