A General Manager job in Camden, NJ is currently available through Belcan. In this role, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities of the industrial organization to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits. The General Manager will direct rail maintenance and operations through a team of functional managers and front line supervisors. You will also ensure increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials, and train set reliability and availability.

General Manager job duties:

Plans, develops and implements organization policies and goals. Coordinates activities of division or departments to insure compliance with FRA, FTA, State Safety Oversight and CPU regulations. Collective Bargaining agreements, Quality and Maintenance and Safety to effect operational efficiency and economy. You will also be responsible for ensuring the site meets or exceeds contractual and internal KPIs.

Analyzes department budget requests to identify areas in which reductions and efficiencies can be made, and allocates the operating budget. Confers with administrative personnel and reviews activity, operating, and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations required. Directs preparation of directives to division or department administrator outlining policy, program, or operations changes to be implemented.

Acts as a liaison with customer, operating departments, and outside agencies with respect to operations, maintenance of way, facilities, and maintenance of equipment and all issues arising from the Service Property and/or Service Operation. Provides leadership and mentoring for problem resolution to facilitate improvements and improve working relationships both internal and external. Ensures customer needs and expectations are addressed in a timely and efficient manner through a documented process.

Identifies maintenance and operations trends/issues and develops programs and procedures to ensure improved site safety, operations, fleet reliability and availability. Discusses inspection and repair defects or violations with federal and public representatives to resolve concerns, such as time of repair, repair cost, and methods of preventing future defects or violations. Undertakes projects, prepares reports and performs other duties as directed by senior management or the client.

Act as contract administrator overseeing all aspects between client and the customer.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree plus a minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility of senior management experience in the heavy rail industry (preferably Passenger Rail), which includes railroad operations, customer service, maintenance, KPI management, budget preparation and control, labor relations and a thorough working knowledge of all Federal, State, Municipal and local regulatory requirements including FRA, FTA (CFR 659) and OSHA.
