Through our partnerships with MIT, Harvard, and the Harvard teaching hospitals we've become the "hub" of cutting-edge science in the Boston biomedical community.

We are seeking a User Research Lead to build a program for the Data Sciences Platform tools as well as for high-profile collaborations with the National Institute of Health and other institutions. Our aim is not just to provide tools to allow for a deeper understanding of the genomic impacts of disease, but to use design to make those tools as easy to use and as desirable as possible. Creating great tools increases the likelihood of groundbreaking discoveries.

User research is being embraced by the team. You will take over the burgeoning program and help grow it into a mature practice.

You will initially be responsible for every aspect of research, from clarifying research goals, to planning and execution, to creating a shared empathy for our users across the organization. As the research needs grow, you will help grow the discipline.

You will report to the head of UX and collaborate with product owners, interaction designers, engineers, and stakeholders.


* Solid research skills and experience with all aspects of research, from study design to recruiting, to execution and analysis

* Be able to separate findings from recommendations, collaborating with the team on how to interpret the findings into changes that will benefit users

* Professional, collaborative, flexible, attentive to detail, takes pride in ownership and responsibility for the work

* Ability to communicate in a clear, consistent, evocative, empathic, and transparent manner both verbally and visually

* Thrives in an iterative process while maintaining strong organizational and time management skills

* Able to drive the research program independently if there is a gap in demand from the product team

* Familiar with a wide range of research activities with the ability to match the right activity to the intended learning objective

* Bachelors or Masters degree in a related field, or a body of work that demonstrates expertise

* 5+ years of experience in a research role.

* Proven track record of building a discipline is a plus

* Interest and experience in interaction design and prototyping/wireframing is a plus.

* A science background is a plus
