The Position

Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.

Licensure in Nevada as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Psychologist OR as a registered intern as a Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist or Psychological Assistant as issued by the appropriate licensing board is required within three months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

This recruitment is for several clinicians at Nevada Youth Training Center in Caliente. Mental Health Counselors in this setting complete clinical assessments, treatment planning, individual, family and group counseling, case staffing, case management for youth who are placed in this DCFS juvenile justice residential correctional facility. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS), together in partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies, provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential. DCFS programs include child protective and welfare service delivery in rural Nevada and oversight of urban county-operated child protective and welfare services, children's mental/behavioral health treatment and residential services (outpatient and inpatient acute) in urban Nevada, and statewide juvenile justice services including state-operated youth training centers and youth parole. DCFS is an extremely complex organization with incredibly dedicated and professional staff committed to building strong communities through strengthening families.

To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and two years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above. Special Requirements Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Moderate travel is required. Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. Additional Position Experience This position requires experience working with youth under the age of 18 and their families.
