As a Manager Import Operations, you will partner with the Director to manage workflow and flex resources to maximize overall efficiency of the team and process. You'll be responsible for partnering with the Director, Order Process, the GMM, Import Compliance and Import Transportations to develop, implement and lead import operations to maximize profit by optimizing the import order process. Manager Import Operations will ensure the processes scale to support the short and long term sales and profitability goals.


Import Process

* Identifies opportunities to streamline the import order process, ELC calculation including duty, commissions, freight and other load factors

* Plays a leadership role in identifying ongoing cross functional process improvement opportunities in regards to the import process that will systemically reduce merchant time utilization away from operational activities (compliance, cubing, transportation)

* Coaches and manages Import Analysts to execute ELC calculations for pending orders and inform merchants of risks and opportunities identified through load factor management

* Partners with Import Compliance, Import Transportation, Merchandise Process Analysts (MPAs),Vendor Relations and Supply Chain Initiatives to problem solve issues with existing or new vendors related to order transmission, style packing, and ticketing

* Partners with MPAs to deliver merchant training on the import process

* Analyzes order metrics to identify opportunities to improve profit through order management initiatives

* Point of contact for vendors regarding import process


* Establishes high performance standards, measures and manages performance to achieve those standards, with a high focus on coaching and development

* Establishes an environment that empowers associates and drives their engagement in their own work and the goals of the team

* Responsible for maintaining high morale and driving productivity and accuracy, providing coaching in the moment throughout the day and regular feedback.

* Identifies talent and creates and delivers a high quality on-boarding experience

* Identifies training gaps and development needs for the team and individual associates and works to develop and deliver appropriate training

Collaborative Relationships

* Develops and maintains effective working relationship amongst members of cross-functional teams (Buying, DCs, Vendors, MIO and Supply Chain)

* Demonstrates and utilizes strong communication skills in interactions with internal and external business partners creating a customer centric environment

* Serves as the first point of contact for the user community on special order execution processes

* Responds promptly and accurately to issues and inquiries surfaced by merchants, vendors and MIO business partners

* Keeps individual, division, and total company goals in mind when making decisions

* Fosters an environment based on Burlington's core values

Skills and Abilities:

* Positive leadership and team building skills including coaching, training and collaboration

* Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to present and support a point of view to senior leadership

* Strong ability to manage through conflict and problem resolution

* Strong fact-based and intuitive decision making skills

* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel.

* Strong ability to adapt quickly in a fast paced environment

Candidates must have Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of operations management experience , 1+ year leading a team of 2 or more , 2+ years of retail merchandising experience
