POSITION SUMMARY

The Master Chemistry Technician provides oversight of day-to-day analysis and activities in an assigned area. Master Chemistry Technician upgrade to Supervisor Chemistry positions on a volunteer basis as needed. Other activities such as procedure revisions, OJT/TPE, and meeting attendance are also included on the job.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform duties that require a detailed knowledge and understanding of plant and laboratory operations to include evaluations, procedure development, and planning and scheduling.

Perform day-to-day sampling and analyses with appropriate documentation, which is required for Technical Specifications, Radiological Release, Environmental Release, and operational requirements.

Coordinate work with Control Room, Work Control Center, and other departments as needed and status work completion and plan work instructions when required.

Report data acquired from analysis in a timely manner. Report any deviations or deficiencies to supervision.

Maintain procedures including writing new procedures or revising existing procedures.

Ensure equipment and logs are in good order.

Prepare Radioactive Release Permits.

Stand shift on rotation as assigned and maintain shift technician qualifications per the training program.

Participate in site training programs to establish and maintain qualifications. This includes attending classroom and laboratory training, completing On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Task Performance Evaluations (TPE), acting as an OJT Instructor, and assisting with training as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Participate in self-assessments and provide assistance in developing and establishing programmatic enhancements.

Participate in and/or conduct pre-job briefings as required.

Perform oversight of day-to-day analysis and activities including implementing the quality control program in assigned areas.

Provide oversight and direction of technicians assigned to work in the labs.

Review paperwork, report deficiencies, incidents, deviations or events related to lab procedures.

On a voluntary basis, fill in for the Supervisor Chemistry when needed.

Plan work instructions when necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervision/management.

REQUIREMENTS

This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and three years experience as an ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978 "Standard for Selection, Qualification and Training of Personnel for Nuclear Power Plants" qualified technician of which one year must be as a Chemistry Technician II.

This position requires qualifications as a shift technician per WCNOC training program.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position requires performance of duties as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

This position requires a satisfactory work record including good attendance
