Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS:

Entry level position assigned to early morning or evening shift with the possibility of working other shifts as needed. Works under the general supervision of the Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for manning a designated booth at the paid parking exit during established hours of operations; directing parkers to appropriate parking areas; collecting parking fees; providing general information to passengers and the general public; monitoring/patrolling the parking lot to verify valid parking permits and vehicle counts per shift; ensuring cars are properly parked in designated spaces to ensure safety and smooth flow of traffic. Spanish speaking preferred.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

Collects parking fees from passengers utilizing the paid parking system based on established fee schedules;

Clocks out parking tickets and records amount due and collected in the computerized point-of-sale system;

Processes credit card payments and secures cardholder's signature for payment;

Monitors the capacity of the lot and performs parking inventory count once per shift;

When lot is full, verifies number of vehicles parked and reconciles to the parking software database;

Regularly communicates to Airport Operation/Security when there are safety issues, mechanical and/or technical malfunctions of equipment and systems (Le., parking systems or point-of -sales);

Regularly monitors the lot for suspicious activity and reports such activity to Airport Operations/Security and/or

911. Monitoring is done on foot by walking around the parking lots;

Closes out his/her shift on the point-of -sales system settling and balancing credit card and cash payments to the shift sales report;

Maintains a change bank ensuring adequate change funds are available and requests change orders to Airport Operations as needed;

Performs related tasks as necessary.

Handling or using point-of-sale system, credit card machines, calculators, or similar small items.

REASONING REQUIREMENTS:

Requires performing routine work using common sense.

MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires performing basic addition and subtraction, such as making change.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

Requires reading basic sentences, instructions, or work orders; writing simple sentences and completing

uncomplicated job forms; speaking sentences using basic grammar.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires clerical or manual tasks prescribed by standard practices, but which may require computation,

several procedures, and independent judgment with obvious choices; requires normal attention for accurate

results.

VOCATIONAL! EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE PREPARATION

Requires high school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training. Good written and oral communication

skills including ability to read and write English. Must possess basic math skills and be computer literate.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES:

Valid state driver license. Must pass an FBI criminal history record check (condition of employment).

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Requires over three months and up to and including six months.

Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time or exerting up to 10 pounds of

force on a recurring basis.

The job risks exposure to bright, dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, extreme noise levels,

and traffic.

The job requires awareness, normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and speaking.
