Direct Support Professional II - Starting salary: $2,164.10/month The Direct Support Professional II is responsible for the routine and emergency care, treatment, and training for specified individuals with developmental disabilities in routine and crisis situations. Responsibilities may include such duties as grooming, bathing, feeding, observing and reporting individuals' conditions and behaviors; interacting with individuals therapeutically, participating in individualized training and/or active treatment programs. The DSP-II is required to accurately document individual's behavior(s) throughout the daily schedule, including response to home activities, home training and unusual incidents. Completion of work requires use of simple and/or routine duties, while decision making is based on simple and well-defined guidelines. May perform other duties as assigned. May provide training and supervise the work of others. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Job Functions:

Essential Job Functions:Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. Implements habilitation and rehabilitation, behavior management, crisis intervention, and treatment programs with individuals specifically related to individual individual's programs Teaches life skills such as feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene to individuals Participates in the development of the individual's treatment plan Observes individuals for signs and symptoms of disease, injury, reactions to medications, or other conditions which warrant medical intervention and properly documents observations Reports significant changes in individual's physical condition or behavior and records information on individuals as appropriate Administers first aid to individuals as appropriate Attends to health-care needs of individuals under supervision of medical personnel Evacuates individuals in the event of a fire, natural disaster, or other emergency situation or drill Prevents or manages aggressive behavior among individuals and administers CPR in emergency intervention Escort individuals off grounds to activities or appointments Performs direct care and support services to individuals Trains entry level Direct Support Professional I staff. May supervise the work of others Performs related work as assigned Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Knowledge Skills Abilities:

Ability to make decisions and uses good judgment when dealing with critical incidents. Ability to react quickly and calmly in an emergency situation. Ability to demonstrate proper body mechanics, good posture, and proper lifting techniques. Knowledge of individual care techniques and of treatment, therapy, and developmental programs. Ability to provide individual care, to administer first aid and/or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, to conduct Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB), to communicate effectively, to train others, and to supervise the work of others. Ability to work effectively with others and as a member of a team. Registration or Licensure Requirements:

May require a valid driver's license and certification in CPR, First Aid, or PMAB. Initial Selection Criteria:

Prefer High School diploma or GED Prefer experience in a supervisory role Experience in direct care role Prefer experience in writing reports Experience in working with people who have mental health/developmental disabilities Prefer experience in behavior programs for persons with developmental disabilities. Additional Information:
