Job Summary: Promotes inpatients' continued well being through providing direct care, treatment, or services using acceptance and commitment therapy. Responsible for providing direct care staff consultation on and education and training in using acceptance and commitment therapy as a core approach to care, treatment, or services. Engages ongoing clinical research to evaluate the overall effectiveness of care, treatment, or services provided. Contributes knowledge to the practice of professional psychology and to the literature on evidence-based treatments for patients. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1. Knowledge and clinical skills in using acceptance and commitment therapy to work with a wide range of psychological conditions as well as with individuals and families undergoing acute episodes of psychiatric distress; skills in assessment, treatment, and consultation in a psychiatric hospital setting. 2. Demonstrated applied research ability as evidenced by doctoral level research in clinical psychology. 3. Ability to work with community support systems, health care, and human service resources, courts and police, etc. in providing care, treatment, or services to individuals served. 4. Recognizes and appropriately evaluates and responds to crisis and risk situations. 5. Knowledge of and ability to adhere to the professional code of ethics and the state mental health code. 6. Good organizational skills and administrative abilities: must be computer literate. 7. Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work, including weekends. QUALIFICATIONS : 1. Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology from an APA accredited program. 2. Completed a supervised and structured predoctoral internship training program in professional psychology. The program satisfies licensure requirements in the applicant's desired state of professional practice. 3. At least two years of work experience in mental health or human services including working in a psychiatric hospital inpatient setting.
