As part of the HPC Data Infrastructure Group (HDIG), this position will provide leadership and support for the Computational & Information Systems Laboratory's (CISL) high-performance storage systems, data archival systems, high-performance networks and data transfer services. The environment is composed of multi-vendor resources with numerous specialized hardware components and requires coordination and communication with the Supercomputing Services Group (SSG) and User Services Section. (USS)

Job Overview:

This position will be responsible for leading the design, installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of HPC storage systems and high-performance networks. Responsibilities include both hardware and software aspects of the systems including system integration. Applies engineering/computer science discipline and industry best practices to systems design and configuration and software development. Typically includes developing and supporting system software solutions for system management, system deployment, system monitoring, system resource control, system statistical data gathering, data transfer services, data management services, data archiving services, network services, performance tuning and system benchmarking.

Ensures consistent and reliable operation of the HPC storage clusters, data archival systems, and HPC networks. Monitors and enhances system usage and performance. Participates in research and evaluation of new technological solutions in support of the CISL strategic plan, including high-performance shared file systems, data archival systems and data workflow design.
