Senior Network Engineer

Summary:

As a senior network engineer, you will support, design, build, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure management and automation solutions of varying sizes and complexity. You will be responsible for resolving issues escalated by other support teams. Provide onsite and remote support to our employees who have critical SLA requirements. Work independently and as part of a team to develop project and infrastructure roadmaps, plan and implement project timelines, establish test plans, recommend and implement new technologies. Urgently analyze technical issues, address tier three escalations, work with the project manager on team related projects, and troubleshoot over the phone, onsite and via remote access. Build out monitoring services using logic monitor, extra hop and automation.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Leads the performance of day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability and serviceability within minimal interruption
  • Leads network technology upgrade or expansion projects, including installation of hardware, software and integration testing, as well as coordinating these activities without disturbing function of other systems
  • Strong vendor relation skills with experience managing telecommunication providers
  • Communicate technical solutions to non-technical personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Monitor availability, reliability, performance, utilization, trending and capacity planning
  • Provide Level-3 support & liaise with vendors and other IT teams on problem resolution
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Assist in selecting & implementing security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
  • Disaster recovery maintenance, planning and testing
  • Create infrastructure documentation/SOPs and maintain a periodic review
  • Support IT teams engaged in infrastructure systems and applications as necessary
  • Review, recommend and implement new services as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6+ years of infrastructure experience
  • Vast knowledge and understanding of DNS
  • Experience with Cumulus Linux Networks
  • Experience with Aruba and F5 platforms
  • Experience with smart PDU’s and Data Center Infrastructure Management DCIM
  • Demonstrated experience with Layer 2, 3 and 4 networking - expert knowledge and experience with EIGRP and BGP routing protocols
  • CCNA or CCNP Certifications preferred
  • Experience setting technical vision and strategy for long-term success
  • Result oriented with the focus on product quality and customer satisfaction
  • Experience managing complex technical projects with minimal guidance
  • In-depth knowledge of advance routing protocols and network security
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of Azure cloud technologies and DevOps processes
  • Ability to develop documentation and enforce standards/best practices
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with staff
  • Weekend and after hours work will be required as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CCNA, CCNP, CCDA or CCDP Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent field experience
  • Knowledge of networking hardware including make/models, wiring, and interoperability
  • Experience with emerging technologies VoIP (H.323 & SIP), Video Conferencing, Wireless (802.11 environments), Security (802.1x, IPS/IDS, NAC)
  • Experience in network monitoring, analysis, and configuration of management tools (ExtraHop, Logic Monitor, Splunk)
  • Knowledge of public cloud network integration and redundancy
