Position Summary:

New Ways of Working (NWoW) is one of the initiatives underpinning the refreshed Bain strategy. The objectives of the initiative are to ensure partners, managers and principals across the globe are capable and comfortable in setting new standards of excellence in delivering results to the client, in line with Bain's new strategy to out-team and out-innovate, by learning how to:

  • Partner effectively by injecting new expertise into our case teams
  • Team seamlessly with more diverse team members
  • Deliver the work through consistent use of Agile, RD and intense Client Collaboration

To date, the initiative has been driven by a series of rotational teams who have:

  • Collected NWoW BDPs through interviews with team members and managers
  • Set up a New Ways of Working website
  • Developed training curriculum for in-office delivery to Partner/Manager teams
  • Mobilized a network of Office NWoW Champions to drive local training and start-up support

Essential Functions:

Building on this mobilization momentum, the Specialist will work with the Program Manager and Senior Specialist to continue driving the ongoing mobilization and fully embed New Ways of Working across Bain. The Specialist will be responsible for a variety of discrete tasks contributing to the overall objectives of the initiative.

STRATEGY: Define New Ways of Working roadmap for success and track progress

  • Support 2-3 year New Ways of Working roadmap
  • Assist in measuring ongoing progress toward objectives

CONTENT & DELIVERY: Ensure leadership has the New Ways of Working training and content they need, when they need it

  • Work with case teams and senior practice affiliates to understand work and solicit most relevant content, capturing knowledge onto Bain's global intranet platform and managing metadata as needed to facilitate user searching
  • Help package and codify Bain's best thinking into insights, consistent with Bain's confidentiality guidelines
  • Manage and maintain practice page(s) on Bain's intranet; ensure best materials are represented and shared
  • Support Regional Leadership Team Meetings, local offsites and other global / local meetings with NWoW content as required

WAYFINDING: Help everyone navigate the new Bain

  • Develop expertise to support partners and other members of the consulting staff with Bain's best intellectual property:
  • Respond to requests by identifying existing knowledge and relevant content, or by customizing materials, to support client selling and serving activities
  • Direct individuals to the most relevant experts, reference case teams, or other known sources

OPERATIONS: Ensure tools, processes and governance in place to enable New Ways of Working initiative

  • Support preparation for meetings with expert group leaders, practices and other stakeholders
  • Support development / execution of digital tools required to support NWoW
  • Regularly communicate issues and progress to Manager(s)


  • Minimum BA or equivalent undergraduate degree with strong academic credentials
  • Preferred 4 to 6 years of experience (minimum 3+), ideally in a professional services firm environment, with exposure to one or more of the following disciplines: knowledge management, research, strategic planning/analysis, business development, consulting, or project management; previous relevant experience is a plus
  • Ability to structure and lead complex business research and analysis in fast-paced environment, as well as the skills to drive to pragmatic business insights
  • Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills, and is a proven self-starter (comfortable with what could be a remote supervisor and team)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to establish credibility with senior leaders
  • Ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision
  • Experience and proficiency creating high quality presentations
  • Collaborative – someone who knows how to work with and through others to drive results and make change happen, and is customer service oriented
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, and productive - someone who knows how to prioritize what needs to be done and rallies colleagues to get things accomplished; “roll up the sleeves“ type of attitude
