We are currently hiring for our new Sr. Buyer - Marketing & Indirect Procurement role in Boston, MA.

The Senior Buyer – Marketing will contribute to Boston Beer Company's (BBC) success by defining and implementing sourcing strategies for marketing categories (including brand promotions, trade marketing, sponsorships, agencies, research services, etc.)

The Senior Buyer for Marketing Procurement will directly manage the procurement activities for our brands and cross functional marketing teams. The Senior Buyer will be expected to build solid ongoing relationships with both internal business partners across marketing, operations, finance, and legal as well as external suppliers. The Senior Buyer will support the development and optimization of critical procurement processes by identifying and implementing best practices and driving suppliers to higher levels of performance.

What You'll Do:


Identify potential suppliers for brand/marketing categories

Manage the competitive bid process including the Request for Proposal (RFP) process

Develop and execute sourcing strategies based on business needs, market intelligence, spend baselines, and industry benchmarking

Category Management:

Support professional athletic organization and venue agreements to further national advertising initiatives and programing

Own business categories within the marketing space including agencies, research services, digital platforms, activation partners, and digital trade services


Manage contracting and negotiations for Sales Sponsorships across Divisions

Work independently to build original Master Service Agreements with new suppliers

Work independently to redline supplier's original Master Service Agreements

Work with internal business partners and suppliers to create Statements of Work (SOW)

Negotiate and gain alignment with business partners on service requirements

Manage agreement renewals and amendments

Procurement Optimization:

Support annual planning activities for Marketing Procurement

Optimize resources for ongoing cost savings

Interface cross-functionally with marketing, operations, finance, and legal to drive value across the marketing category

Supplier Management:

Effectively communicate project timelines and budget

Ensure seamless delivery of services to Boston Beer

Proactively develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the marketing catrgory

Initiate and facilitate supplier business review to drive improvement and effective supplier management

Act as primary contact for supplier issues and resolves supplier disputes

What We're Looking For:


  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience working in Purchasing, Procurement and/or Supply Chain for a variety of indirect categories required.
  • 3 years of contracting experience (drafting original MSAs/SOWs, redlining, negotiating) required.
  • 3 years of managing suppliers and project management experience for a variety of marketing categories (brand promotions, trade marketing, sponsorships, agencies, print/POS, consumer insights/research services, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience working directly with legal.
  • Strong analytical skills a must.
  • Ability to evaluate and translate data into strategic recommendations required.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word required.
