Research Associate Professor

Bouvé School of Health Science's Research Professors are responsible for establishing, conducting and managing original research programs. The candidate must possess expertise in a public health approach to injury and violence prevention, with particular expertise and demonstrated original research contributions in the area of firearm related violence, suicide prevention, and the interaction between these two areas (i.e., the role of reducing the availability of firearms and other highly lethal means as a public health approach to suicide prevention). The candidate must be adept at grant writing and have a proven track record as PI or Co-I on grants related to firearm related injury and suicide prevention. Original contributions to the role of reducing firearm availability as a suicide prevention approach would be a strong plus. In addition, the candidate must be able to marshal her/his knowledge and expertise for the expansion and improvement of the research and grant writing activities at Northeastern. The Research Associate Professor shall perform this research and scholarship at a high quality level commensurate with that which is expected of tenure-track or tenured faculty in the same discipline, at the same professional rank. The Research Professor may be involved in teaching activates related to the university's mission. Research Professors at the Associate Rank must demonstrate the ability to secure external funding, as a Principle Investigator or Co-Investigator. Further they must have active external funding to cover at least 75% of their full time salary at the time of hire and continue to maintain their external funding support at this level for at least 18 months. After 18 months beyond the hire date, the candidate is expected to cover 100% of her/his salary through external funding. The Research Associate Professor must demonstrate autonomy and excellence in research, through proven history of published scholarship and continuous external research funding.
