Job Summary: The Program Manager, Performance Assessment and Reporting works in the division of Performance Assessment/Regulatory Affairs in the Silverman Institute for Health Care Quality and Patient Safety at BIDMC and reports to the Director of Regulatory Affairs. This leader will manage the staff and the functions and data bases for all aspects of data collection and analysis. This leader will interface with department colleagues as well as leaders from across the organization to communicate data analyses from complex, disparate data sources and to identify performance improvement opportunities. This leader works closely with key clinical and operations leaders to jointly make discoveries for opportunity, recognize patterns of change / improvement.

Essential Responsibilities:

* Collaborates with QI leaders across the medical center to interpret published reports and create custom queries from the Vizient datasets as well as BIDMC administrative data sets and repositories.

* Utilize existing and new data sources to provide technical and analytical services of a complex and varied nature in response to the needs of internal and external customers.

* Demonstrate creativity in displaying information visually and making the patterns they find clear and compelling.

* Advise executives and QI Directors on the implications of the data for local and or institutional priorities and processes.

* Manage and provide guidance on the processes to support medical records/clinician documentation and process improvement to support accreditation standards and payer incentive programs (DMA/JCAHO/CMS, BCBS, Tufts, HPHC P4P) measures

* Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has authority to undertake or recommend the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: More than 7 Indirect Reports: None

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or healthcare field required required. Master's degree in or MPH preferred.

* 5-8 years related work experience required and 1-3 years supervisory/management experience required

* Advanced analytic skills.

* Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

* Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.

* Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
