Perioperative Business Manager

The Perioperative Business Manager assists the Business Director in coordinating all business and support service functions related to throughput, Scheduling, Billing, processes improvement and movement of materials and equipment throughout Perioperative Services. The Business Manager will be instrumental in driving performance metrics related to Surgical Services operational and growth goals of Boston Medical Center.

Responsible for administration and non-clinical operations for the department, including financial analysis and cost management, utilization, charge capture and revenue, material utilization management and computerized systems establishing the linkage with preference cards. Functions as primary liaison to Financial Planning, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Internal Audit and IS departments. Compiles and maintains statistics in reference to the above. Develops and maintains an active equipment QA program.

Bachelor's Degree required in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting. Master's Degree preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a health care setting.

* High level of analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills in order to function as business manager, and to prepare financial proposals, reports and analysis in support of programs and activities

* High level of organizational and interpersonal skills to interact with physicians, directors and senior management on matters having multiple varying impact on department objectives, and to respond effectively to competing needs for resources and to negotiate effective agreements with vendors of services and equipment.

* Knowledge of automated systems and interfaces, and in-depth understanding of scheduling and material management systems

* Managerial skills to develop and supervise department support staff
