Nurse Practitioner Per Diem

Suffolk University invites qualified candidates to join our pool of Nurse Practitioners to be available on a per diem basis. The Nurse Practitioner Per Diem provides direct patient care on a per diem basis in compliance with Counseling and Health Services protocals, policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary Counseling and Health Services team; strong general medical knowledge; applicable licenses and certifications.


* Provide direct patient care on a per diem basis in compliance with Counseling and Health Services protocols, policies and procedures. Provide daily walk-in for urgent care as well as scheduled appointments for non-urgent issues.

* Manage the diagnostic test ordering and follow-up process to ensure test results are processed and results are received. Ensure lab results are communicated to clinicians and patients according to department protocols.

* Assist with Health Services outreach to students identified by the Week-in-Review and Student of Concern Committees.

* Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.

* Perform blood draws and administer intramuscular injections.

* Record physical findings and formulate plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.

* Collaborate with multidisciplinary counseling and health and wellness team.

* Provide educational tools in the course of treatment.

* Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities

* Appropriately refer patients off-campus for consultation or treatment with specialized health providers/resources for specialized healthcare needs

* Maintain ongoing communications with Counseling and Health Services clinicians and staff.

* Complete required documentation in an accurate and timely manner using electronic and other medical records.

* Act in compliance with university policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

* Ensure effective interactions with patients and families.

* Actively participate in the quality improvement process.

* Attend and participate in department/facility meetings, as required.

* Act in compliance with regulatory and professional standards and guidelines.

* Participate in and/or provide in-service education sessions.

* Perform other duties, as assigned by the Director of Counseling, Health and Wellness and/or the Medical Director.


* Ability to work independently and as part of the Counseling and Health Services team.

* Strong general medical knowledge.

* Ability to work with a diverse patient population.

* Applicable licenses and certifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Healthcare experience in a college health setting strongly preferred.

* 2 or more years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner
