Director of Associate Development
Cooley is seeking a Director of Associate Development to join a growing team. Reporting to the Chief Legal Talent Officer, and working closely with firm leadership, Legal Talent, and Professional Development, the Director of Associate Development will lead the creation and growth of a new administrative function within Cooley. The Associate Development department is responsible for the retention and development of associates through the work assignment and evaluation process. Among other things, this role will focus on work allocation and utilization, including implementing process and procedures, tracking metrics, making recommendations on tools to assist with said allocation and utilization and collaborating with DEI and practice group leaders to further their goals using allocation and utilization.
Candidates must have a JD degree, 3+ years practicing as an attorney, preferably in a large law firm environment and 3+ years of experience in staffing, professional development or practice support in a professional services firm. Successful candidates will have the ability to think strategically and long term and must be able to establish rapport and build relationships and credibility with internal stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal, oral (both listening and talking) and written communication skills are a must.
